What is slow aging?
At SPARITUAL® we believe in a slow aging philosophy called Slow Beauty. The Slow Beauty® movement is the antithesis of the fast-paced world of the beauty industry that sells us quick fixes, immediate results and invasive options. This outdated perspective has us racing against time, and fighting against aging. Instead, indulge in the process of growing young with us as we explore how to slow the signs of aging through body care rituals rooted in spa culture and the finest ingredients nature can provide.
Individual results may vary.
What causes hand aging?
Your hands are the most overworked and overlooked parts of your body. Factors such as dry climates, working with your hands, frequent hot showers/immersing hands in hot water, UV rays, and more every day tasks such as these suck the moisture out of skin by stripping it of natural oils. The older we get, the less oil our skin produces. This, coupled with the fact that the skin on our hands is one of the thinnest part of skin we have, causes our hands to look older quicker.
Moreover, certain damaging factors such as hot water causes damage to the keratin cells found on the epidermis – the outermost layer of the skin. Damaging these cells creates dryness & flaking while preventing the keratin cells from keeping moisture locked in our skin. Additionally, combining hot water and scrubbing with soap on the skin further irritates and harms the outer layer of the skin by dissolving the lipids (fatty compounds) responsible for keeping skin moisturized. Because of this, keeping the vulnerable skin on hands as conditioned and well hydrated as possible becomes the key when trying to combat the signs of aging.
Which ingredients combat aging hands?
There are ancient healing ingredients found to slow the aging of hands on the molecular level by providing deep hydration. Among these miraculous ingredients are Marula Oil, Shea butter, and Aloe!
Marula Oil:
This moisturizing oil boosts collagen production in skin, restores suppleness, and strengthen’s skin’s natural ability to renew cells because of the Vitamin E, amino acids, and flavonoids found in its natural composition. Marula oil’s unique blend of Vitamin C and fatty acids promote skin elasticity and firmness.
Shea Butter:
Shea butter is rich in oleic, stearic, and linoleic acids, and is easily absorbed into the skin as it melts at body temperature. Because it is rich in fats, shea butter makes an excellent topical emollient and skin moisturizer. Shea’s skin renewal benefits are found in its natural occurence of vitamin A and E - which improve skin health and may provide protection from harmful sun exposure. The Vitamin E found in shea butter also soothes dryness and improves the elasticity of skin.
Aloe:
The loss of moisture and elasticity can also lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin. Aloe vera contains many natural antioxidants, such as Vitamin C, beta carotene, and Vitamin E that work to improve skin’s natural firmness and resistance to loss of elasticity. Aloe vera also acts as an effective moisturizing agent for thirsty skin. Aloe doesn’t leave behind a greasy feel that many ingredients can and will give your hands a moisture defense that wont allow various environmental factors too dry out
